PHOTOGRAPHY
Q: What is Photojournalistic Wedding Photography Style?
A: Our definition for the photojournalistic wedding style is simple: capturing the events of the day AS they happen with very little (or any) interference from us, the photographers. We are not the type of photojournalistic photographers that don't take ANY posed photos. However, our primary emphasis is recording the wedding as it happens - not only posing for group photos. Our product is a blend of documentary photography, finesse, style, personality, emotion, and brilliance. Our goal is to tell the story as it happened - in a photo journalistic approach, without being too intrusive.
Q: How long will you work with me on the wedding day?
A: On the full day shoot we will be with you for up to 10 hours, and a half day shoot is up to 5 hours. We will begin shooting from bride preparations and stay until the reception. (Usually we leave 30 min. after the last formal activities.)
Q: How much time should I plan on (setting aside) for Photography?
A: Every wedding is different so we can't say for sure, but here are some things to consider:
When we photograph an actual wedding ceremony (not a temple wedding) it will require at least an hour for pre ceremony, ceremony, and post ceremony photos. To get group shots and some other basics add a half of an hour to an hour. Temple weddings only need 1 hour to easily get the basics. By basics we mean family groups, 10-20 poses/locations around the temple/location, and a little candid coverage.
A half hour beyond that will ensure that you get the basics and even some more fun shots. If you have more than one location, then each of those locations needs about an hour to be well-covered.
And lastly, consider adding half an hour to a full hour beyond that to be realistic/safe. This rule applies to planning any event, especially weddings, and just in case everything works efficiently, that extra 1/2 hour or so will mean more fun "candid" shots! In other words it can't hurt, it will only help, and candid shots are directly related to the amount of extra time the photographer is given (though we also do an excellent job of fitting them in while taking traditional shots as well, but extra time only helps!).
Q: How many digital images will I receive?
A: It depends on the package you choose.
Q: Do you travel out-of-India to do photography?
A: Yes, we shoot all over India and abroad. We've had assignments all over Asia, USA and Europe.
Q: Do you travel, and, if so, how do you work out the travel charges?
A: When the event takes place in a different city (other than Bangalore or Hyderabad), then the travel expenses and stay is covered by client. For shoots outside India, travel charges are decided with client on case to case basis beforehand.
Q: What is a proof?
A: A proof is the first set of photos you see after the wedding! You'll look at all of your proofs to choose a set of your pictures and the final prints for your album. Some of the options used to provide proofs to clients include: an online website, a DVD of computer screen images, or 4x6 inch photo prints. We provide proofs through our online sharing system. Resolution of the proofs is always reduced so that we can easily share a greater number of pictures with you. Proofing pictures should not be copied or shared with anybody as they are considered an unfinished product.
Q: How long after the wedding can we expect our proofs?
A: Wedding proofs will be ready for you within 2 weeks from the wedding date.
Q: Some photographers do not allow (or severely limit) guest's taking pictures. How do you handle this?
A: We don’t mind your friends and family taking pictures as long as they don’t interfere in our work. But we do not allow other professional photographers to cover the event parallel with us.
Q: How long do you take to process the images after the wedding?
A: Our turn-around time can depend on the season and order volume, but we try to have your photos online within four to five weeks of your wedding and the DVDs available for pick-up (or in the mail) by five weeks. In other words, we can't guarantee these times mainly due to seasonal concerns and proofing time on the client’s end. Our general rule is to deliver the pictures to the client within 4 weeks from them completing the proofing process.
Q: What type of camera or camera equipment do you use?
A: We use only high quality equipment and cameras. We shoot with canon cameras and lenses with very high light sensitivity, which allows us to shoot without bright light lamps even indoor.
Q: Why are wedding photographers so interested in natural lighting?
A: Natural lighting is a wedding photographer’s best friend. Wedding photography involves fast-paced, constantly changing situations. There may not be enough time to set up elaborate artificial lighting in every situation and location. The less time the photographer has to spend setting up lighting, the more time he or she has to shoot your wedding. Natural light is at its most beautiful and flattering in the couple of hours after sunrise and before sunset, but a great photographer can find nice lighting and create interesting photography at high noon, and yes, even indoors.
Q: Can I give our wedding photographer magazine clippings of certain poses I want?
A: Every wedding photographer has a different working and shooting style. If you have hired a wedding photographer who is more interested in recording the spontaneity of the day, it may be difficult for him or her to try to copy a specific image from another event with a different couple, different light, and different circumstances. Since your wedding photographs will be unique to your day, you will likely find it more enjoyable to simply allow events to unfold, and trust your wedding photographer to give you the images that attracted you to his or her work in the first place.
Q: What is a wedding photo booth?
A: It’s also called "The Mini Photo Studio". The idea is very simple: camera on a tripod with a remote, pointed at a nice clean background. This way your guests can take spontaneous pictures... and you will have bunch of fun pictures ;) It is becoming increasingly popular, be sure to ask us more about it!
Q: Do you create albums for your customers?
A: Yes, we have large range of albums sizes, starting from small coffee table books to bigger leather bound books. Each book is individually designed for you, and you can make changes in the design before its printed. We also archive the designs, so if your album is ever damaged or lost, you can always contact us and order a new one. Your album will be archived with us for 5 years.
Q: Who chooses the pictures that go in the album?
A: After looking at all the proof images, the bride and groom usually decide what goes in the album. The photographer may let you specify the sequence and size of the pictures, so that the album really shows the wedding the way you want to see it, with important images enlarged, and related candids grouped together. Some photographers will suggest a layout for your album or design the album with you, using proofs or computer images to show you what the final album will look like. You will benefit from the photographer's eye and feel for the wedding. You also have the option of letting your parents decide what pictures go in their album.
Q: Is it possible to videotape everyone at the wedding ceremony and reception? How long do you work with me on the day of our wedding?
A: No. It is impossible to guarantee that everyone will be filmed. As a general rule with our videos, we focus solely on the bride and groom. If you want to make sure that a specific family member is filmed, you must let us know beforehand. We will stay until we get the footage we need to finish your video. Usually we leave the reception 30 minutes after the last formal activities.
Q: How do you edit our video?
A: The way we shoot and edit the video is by using a candid camera and editing techniques. This means that your entire day will be condensed into a 1-3 hour-long video. If you have questions as to how this will look, please ask to view more of our sample videos. Also please note, that we only include the most important moments from the wedding ceremony.
Q: Can we buy the raw footage? How long do you keep a master copy of our video on file?
A: Yes, we do sell the raw footage. We keep raw footage on file for only two months after you have received your wedding video. We keep a master copy of your video on hand for two years after your wedding date. After that time period, we cannot guarantee that we will have your video.
Q: How long does it take to finish our video? Can we make changes to the final video?
A: We spend between 60-70 hours editing over a period of 60 days to finish your video. We will notify you when the finished video is ready. Making changes to the final video is difficult to guarantee, but feel free to let us know during the editing process.
Q: How do we get our wedding videos when you are finished?
A: We will call you and inform you that your video is finished; and we will ship the product to your address.
